Biden calls ‘the MAGA mob… the most extreme political organization’

Responding to a reporter’s question on Wednesday, President Biden answered a question about the Supreme Court’s leaked draft opinion that appears to overturn Roe v. Wade. Biden said the draft advisory isn’t just about abortion and wondered what other rights might be curtailed. He added, “This MAGA mob is truly the most extreme political organization that has ever existed in American history, in recent American history.”

What’s next on abortion once this case is settled?

Joe Biden: Like I said when it hit, as I was getting on a plane to go to Alabama. it is about much more than abortion. I hadn’t read the whole review at the time, but it reminds me of the debate with Robert Bork. Bork believed that the only reason you had inherent rights was because the government gave them to you. If you go back and watch the opening comments [? from ?] the Bork-Biden, when I questioned him as president, I said, I believe I have the rights that I don’t have because the government gave them to me – which you believe – but because I’m just a child of God. I exist. I delegated, by joining this union here, to delegate certain obligations, certain rights. I, to governments for social good.

So the idea that there’s sort of an inherent right, there’s no right to privacy, there’s no right — and remember the debate that we — you don’t remember, but we had a debate about Griswold versus Connecticut. There had been a law forbidding a married couple to buy a contraceptive in the privacy of their own bedroom and use it. Well, that was cancelled. Griswold was considered a bad call by Bork, and I guess it’s the Supreme Court guys now.

What if you have state changes in the law saying kids who are LGBTQ can’t be in classrooms with other kids? Is it legitimate in the sense that the decision is written? What are the next things that are going to be attacked? Because this MAGA mob is truly the most extreme political organization that has ever existed in American history – in recent American history.
