US Ambassador Meets with Leaders of Political Parties in the North

US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Julie Chung held talks with Tamil political party leaders in the Northern Province.

Ambassador Chung who is currently on tour in Jaffna district had met with leaders of several Tamil parties for talks yesterday (25) in Jaffna city.

Illankai Tamil leader Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) Mavai Senathirajah, Tamil People’s National Alliance (TPNA) leader CV Wigneswaran, People’s Liberation Organization of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE) leader Dharmalingam Siddharthan and the leader of the Tamil Eelam Liberation Organization (TELO) Selvam Adaikalanathan had participated in the discussion.

The talks focused on the political and economic problems of the country as well as on the problems of the populations of the North and the East.

In a post on Twitter, the US Ambassador said she met with TNA, TELO, PLOTE and TPNA to discuss the current crisis in the country and its impact on their constituents.

“The only way to solve today’s challenges is for everyone to work together – and to ensure that the interests of all Sri Lankans are represented in the solution,” she said.

During this time, the Ambassador also met with business leaders to explore ways to bring prosperity and investment to the North, and she also held talks with members of the Space Youth Forum. American to discuss the challenges facing young people today and how they plan to build the future of Sri Lanka.
