‘All Peoples Party’ was registered as the last political party in Fiji after the Registrar of Political Parties, Mohammed Saneem, approved the application which was made on the 25th of last month.
Saneem said there was an objection received from the People’s Alliance regarding the use of the name and the adoption of members of the proposed party from the United Kingdom.
He adds that this objection was overruled as the name “All Peoples Party” bore no close resemblance to the name “The People’s Alliance” in any way.
He also says that the All Peoples Party submitted signatures from its own members and none of them were from the proposed UK party.
The Registrar adds that it was found that the applicants had succeeded in providing all the information required by law and that the party was therefore duly registered.
All People’s Party becomes the 13th registered political party since the Political Parties (Registration, Conduct, Funding and Disclosure) Act 2013 came into force.
The number of registered political parties in Fiji currently stands at nine.
