Gombe Police Warn Against Eid Field Political Campaigns

The Gombe State Police Command has warned politicians in the state to adhere to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) timetable regarding the timing of the 2023 general elections and to avoid any form of political campaigning or gathering under any pretext whatsoever at places of Eid prayer.

The warning was contained in a press release from Command PPRO, ASP Mahid Mu’azu Abubakar, stating that State Commissioner of Police (CP), Ishola Babaita, warned any individuals or groups in mind criminal to wander away from Gombe State during the festivities. .

The commissioner further advised people to be mindful of their personal safety and to report any suspicious person or people in their localities to the nearest police station for prompt response.

“In this regard, the officers and men of the command will be on guard to rid the state of criminal elements while all criminal hideouts will be looted as will joint inter-agency surveillance patrols to neutralize any likely threat to peace. and state security and enforcement of road traffic rules in the metropolis of Gombe and its surroundings will be maintained,” he said.

The Command also called on parents and guardians to monitor the movements of their children and wards during the holiday season.

He added that PC Ishola Babaita congratulated the Muslim Ummah and members of the general public in the state on the auspicious occasion of the Sallah celebrations.

In addition, he reaffirmed his commitment to protecting the lives and property of citizens by putting in place strong crime prevention measures before, during and after the celebration.
