IPOB warns FG, says we’re bigger than your political strategies

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have sent a warning message to the Federal Government to avoid linking it to the attacks being carried out in the South East Zone of Nigeria.

L’Informateur247 reports that the federal government has repeatedly accused the secessionist group and its security wing, the Eastern Security Network, ESN, of attacks on security agents and government facilities.

IPOB spokeswoman Emma Puissant revealed on Monday that the outlawed indigenous group had no connection to the attacks.

The separatists sent out a message warning that anyone linking the group and the ESN to any attacks in the region would regret it.

Emma Powerful said the IPOB had nothing to do with Nigerian politics, reiterating that the group only had an interest in the referendum to determine the destination and fate of Biafra as an independent country.

The group said it will attach great importance and significance to a United Nations-supervised referendum to determine their secession.

“The Nigerian government should leave IPOB/ESN alone. We are bigger than their political strategies. They can bind or attract other groups into Nigerian politics but not IPOB because we remain focused on our mission and cannot be attracted to what we abhor.

“We abhor everything in Nigeria and cannot be attracted by what we have rejected.

“The only political process the IPOB will participate in is a UN-supervised Biafran referendum that will inaugurate Biafran sovereignty and independence.

“Anyone who intends to link ESN Operative, Volunteers, including IPOB members in their planned political attacks is being deceived and regret will always be his share,” the group said.
