Mark Cuban has found the solution to what he sees as the two-party problem: a political party made up exclusively of women.
“I think now, especially after Roe, women are stepping up. You know, why don’t you create a political party and only have women? Cuban said at Vox Media’s Code conference in Los Angeles. “We have so much power, so much strength, so much momentum with women. You don’t need guys who look like me from a distance.
Cuban’s comments prompted Code host Kara Swisher to ask if the mogul would ever run for president – which he quickly shut down.
The Cost Plus Drug Company founder and owner of Dallas Mavericks also discussed problems with America’s two-party system, comparing it to the pharmaceutical industry and noting that “everyone takes your money in little pieces, and all of a sudden , it adds up. And because you give them these small amounts of money, you have to support your team.
“But leave your party, vote on issues that are important to you, donate money to the issue or participate in the issue instead of the political side,” he said. “Politics is the root of evil.”
However, the Shark Tank host said we need to do things differently, explaining that “we still have too many ‘hey, that’s my side,'” while noting how helpful rallying around can be, pointing out that “rallying” may explain Stacey Abrams’ success in widespread voter registration.
“There’s nothing wrong with that, but it’s all part of the power structure. And then Republicans do the same,” he said. “And so you have these two huge power bases that have all the power. This is the problem.”
Cuban then presented his plan to shake up the system through an all-women’s party, an idea he says he’s passed on to his friends.
“Don’t let me in, will you?” Take my money, but don’t let me in, you know? There can be so much more going on and you can’t do the same thing all the time and expect different results,” he said.
However, he had a few choice words for a senator: “Fuck you, Elizabeth Warren.” You have politics all wrong.
